On Friday, 3 July 2026, NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Greece (NRDC-GR) Headquarters hosted a ceremony to commemorate the Independence Day of the United States of America and celebrate the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.
The ceremony was officiated by the Commander NRDC-GR’s representative, the Chief of Staff of NRDC-GR Major General Vasileios KIOUSIS, and attended by distinguished civil and military authorities. Among the official guests were the U.S. Consul in Thessaloniki, Mr. Brett DVORAK, the Consul General of Albania, Mrs. Erida DOBRUSHI, the Consul General of Romania, Ms. Corina CREȚU, and the Consul General of France, Mr. Jean-Luc LAVAUD.
The presence of the distinguished guests, together with the multinational personnel of NRDC-GR, reflected the strong partnership, mutual trust, and close cooperation that characterize the Alliance. In his speech, the Senior National Representative, Major Alfonso RIVERA, highlighted the significance of the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, emphasizing the shared values of freedom, democracy, and collective defence that continue to unite Allied nations.
In his address, the Chief of Staff of NRDC-GR, expressed his appreciation for the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between Greece and the United States, emphasizing their shared commitment to NATO’s values, collective defence, and transatlantic security. He also conveyed the Commander NRDC-GR’s congratulations on the opportunity to commemorate this historic milestone together at the HQ premises.
Mr. DVORAK thanked NRDC-GR for hosting the ceremony and reaffirmed the enduring partnership between the United States and Greece, underlining their common commitment to peace, security, and the principles of the Alliance.
The ceremony concluded with a reception at NRDC-GR Headquarters, providing an opportunity for guests and Headquarters personnel to exchange views and strengthen the bonds of the multinational community.
