Major General Vasileios Kiousis was born in 1968 in Athens. He graduated from the Hellenic Military Academy in 1991 as a second lieutenant specialized in Signals.
He successfully attended all the obligatory for his rank applied schools and courses of the Armed Forces, namely ADISPO, the Supreme Joint War College, and SETHA, the
Hellenic National Defence College.
As a junior officer, he served as a platoon commander, a company commander and a staff officer in Signals Units and at the former NATO HQ Joint Command South Center in Greece.
As a senior officer, he served as a staff officer in the General Directorate for Defence Investment and Armaments (GDDIA) of the Ministry of National Defence, the Signals Directorate of the Army General Staff, the Military Delegation of Greece to the EU (Brussels), the Chief’s Staff Office of the Army General Staff, and the Army General Staff/D2 (Defence Planning and Programming Directorate). He commanded a Signals Battalion. He served as Deputy Director at the Signals Directorate of the Army General Staff. He has served as Director responsible for National Defence Policy and Strategic Studies at the National Defence Policy Directorate of the General Directorate of National Defence Policy & International Relations, of the Hellenic MoD.
In 2022 he was promoted to Brigadier General and assigned the duties of Deputy Director of the CHOD’s Cabinet Office and then assigned the duties of Director of the CHOD’s Cabinet Office. Also, in 2024 assigned the duties of Director of the Intelligence Collection Directorate of E’ Branch/Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS).
In 2025 he was promoted to Major General and took over the duties of Director of C’ Branch (Support) at the HNDGS.
On 11 January 2026 upon the decision of the Supreme Military Council he was assigned as Chief of Staff of NRDC-Greece.
Major General Vasileios Kiousis has been awarded all decorations, medals, and commendations prescribed for his rank.
He graduated of the Officers’ Telecommunications School of Electronic Signals. He holds a Master’s degree from the Interdisciplinary Inter-University Programme “Techno-Economic Systems”, specializing in Technology Management, from the National Technical University of Athens and the University of Piraeus. He also holds the 1st Cycle degree “Diplomatic and Strategic Studies” from the Centre d’ Etudes Diplomatiques et Stratégiques (CEDS – GR). He holds a Master’s degree in “Applied Strategy and International Security” from Plymouth University UK.
He is fluent in English (Certificate of Proficiency in English).
He is married and has two daughters.
