The NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Greece (NRDC-GR) welcomed the Chief of the General Staff of the Republic of North Macedonia Army, Major General Sashko LAFCHISKI, who accompanied by a military delegation and visited the Headquarters in Thessaloniki on 5 June 2026.
Prior to the welcoming ceremony, the Chief of the General Staff of the Republic of North Macedonia Army, Major General Sashko LAFCHISKI, paid an official call on the NRDC-GR Commander, Lieutenant General Grigorios BOUNTLIAKIS, at his office, where they had the opportunity to discuss matters of common interest.
The visit brought together senior leaders and staff officers to exchange views and discuss matters of mutual interest related to regional security, military cooperation, and operational readiness within the NATO framework.
The primary objective of the visit was to enhance mutual understanding of NRDC-GR’s mission, role and responsibilities within the Alliance. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening bilateral military cooperation, expanding opportunities for collaboration, and reinforcing existing ties.
Throughout the working briefing, participants exchanged perspectives on contemporary security challenges and discussed issues at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels. Discussions focused on joint training opportunities, interoperability, mutual support initiatives, and the further development of military cooperation.
