On 15 and 16 September 2026, a delegation of Staff Officers from the General Staff of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia visited NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Greece (NRDC-GR) Headquarters and military facilities in the wider area of Thessaloniki, within the framework of the Military Cooperation Programme between the Hellenic Republic and the Republic of North Macedonia.
The delegation comprised Colonel Robert TASEVSKI, Chief of J3 of the General Staff of the Army and Colonel Kire NIKOLOVSKI, Chief of the Exterior Operations Branch/J3.
The visit commenced with an office call on the NRDC-GR Commander, Lieutenant General Grigorios BOUNTLIAKIS. During the meeting, views were exchanged on matters of mutual interest, with emphasis on military cooperation, security and training.
The delegation subsequently met with the NRDC-GR Chief of Staff and senior staff officers and received an overview of the Headquarters’ mission, role, capabilities and current activities.
As part of the programme, the visiting officers toured NRDC-GR facilities and observed training activities conducted in preparation for Exercise “GORDIAN KNOT 2026”. Discussions also focused on current and future training activities and opportunities for further cooperation between the two sides.
On the second day, the delegation visited Prokopidi Camp, where they were briefed on the Headquarters’ organisation and training activities during exercises.
The programme also included a visit to the Hellenic Army War College, where the delegation was introduced to the College’s mission and training programmes, as well as a visit to the War Museum of Thessaloniki.
The visit provided an opportunity to exchange views, enhance mutual understanding and identify further opportunities for cooperation and participation in NRDC-GR training and exercise activities, contributing to stronger cooperation and interoperability among NATO Allies.
