On Friday, June 12, 2026, a military ceremony was held at the Hellenic Officers’ Club to honor U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Shane Rupert Doolan on the occasion of his promotion to the rank of Colonel, while also marking his farewell and departure from the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Greece (NRDC-GR) Headquarters.
The Presiding Officer and host of the event, Lieutenant General Grigorios P. Bountliakis, Commander of NRDC-GR, delivered the opening address, praising Colonel Doolan’s outstanding professionalism, integrity, and significant contributions to the operational readiness of the multinational Headquarters.
During the official pinning ceremony, symbolizing the mentorship and guidance of senior military leadership, the Commander of NRDC-GR replaced the officer’s insignia. Colonel Doolan was also surrounded by his family, his uncle, Sergeant First Class Berchell Francis, and Mr. Evangelos Georgiadis, who completed the pinning presentation.
In recognition of his exemplary service throughout his successful tour of duty in Greece, Lieutenant General Bountliakis presented Colonel Doolan with his official Certificate of Promotion, along with the Permanent Change of Station Award. In his farewell address, Colonel Doolan expressed his profound gratitude to the staff, and his family for their unwavering support. Among the distinguished guests attending the ceremony were the Consul General of France in Thessaloniki, Mr. Jean-Luc Lavaud, and the representative of the U.S. Consulate General, Mr. Bret Dvorak.
