NRDC-GR Initial Planning Conference for Exercise “GORDIAN KNOT 2026”

On Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 February 2026, NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Greece (NRDC-GR) organized and conducted the Initial Planning Conference (IPC) for the exercise “GORDIAN KNOT 26” (GOKN26), with the participation of Greek and Allied affiliated Units and Formations, as well as NATO Force Structure Headquarters.

GORDIAN KNOT 26 is a scheduled land domain Command Post Exercise (CPX) designed to train NRDC-GR in its role, as a Warfighting Corps HQ at Major Joint Operation (MJO+) level, within a Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) environment. The exercise scenario is based on a complex and evolving security environment, requiring integrated planning, synchronization, and execution across domains.

The IPC marked a key milestone in the exercise preparation process. During the conference, participants presented the Exercise Specifications (EXSPEC) and major milestones, reviewed operational planning requirements and associated timelines, identified requirements for the Exercise Control (EXCON) structure, defined Real Life Support (RLS) and CIS coordination parameters, and confirmed commitments while refining the initial Exercise Plan (EXPLAN).

Building on lessons identified from previous training activities, GOKN26 aims to further enhance the Corps’ readiness, interoperability, and ability to operate effectively in a demanding, multi-domain operational environment.

NRDC-GR reaffirms its commitment to maintaining high standards of preparedness and contributing to NATO’s collective defence and deterrence posture.
