On Friday, 6 March 2026, NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Greece (NRDC-GR) held a ceremony to commemorate the Bulgarian National Day, underscoring the deep-rooted solidarity that defines the Alliance.
The Commander of NRDC-GR, Lieutenant General Grigorios Bountliakis, welcomed distinguished guests, including the Bulgarian Consul General in Thessaloniki, Mr. Antov Markov, and the Consul General of the French Republic, Mr. Jean-Luc Lavaud, the Turkish Consul General, Mr. Serkan Gedik, the Albanian Consul, Ms. Erida Brodushi, and the President of AUSA Hellenic Chapter, Mr. Thomas R. Maguire, who honored the event with their presence. The event served as a powerful reminder that NATO’s strength lies in its multinational character and the seamless interoperability of its member nations.
During the ceremony, Lieutenant General Bountliakis expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to observe the 148th anniversary of Bulgaria’s National Day alongside Allies. He emphasized that such commemorations reinforce the “We Are NATO” spirit, highlighting the shared values of democracy and individual liberty that the Headquarters is dedicated to defending.
Consul General Mr. Markov thanked the Commander for hosting the ceremony and highlighted Bulgaria’s essential contributions to the Alliance’s activities. In this regard he added that events like these at NRDC-GR demonstrate that we are truly stronger together.
