From 25 to 29 May 2026, the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Greece (NRDC-GR) conducted the Main Event List/Main Incident List (MEL/MIL) Incident Development Workshop (IDWS) for the upcoming Exercise “GORDIAN KNOT 2026” (GOKN26) at its Headquarters in Thessaloniki.
The workshop constituted a key step in the exercise planning process. Its primary aim was to develop detailed incidents based on the outcomes of the preceding Strategy Workshop (SWS), thereby enabling the upcoming Scripting Workshop (ScrWS) to establish a comprehensive and coherent training framework.
Exercise “GORDIAN KNOT 2026” is a scheduled land-domain Command Post Exercise (CPX) designed to train NRDC-GR in its Warfighting Corps Headquarters role, at Major Joint Operation Plus (MJO+) scale, within a multi-domain Operations environment.
During the workshop, participants focused on validating the final draft incidents in order to ensure a steady, realistic, and operationally relevant flow of activity throughout the exercise, while maintaining the required tempo and intensity. Key objectives included the development of the incident coordination flow and the synchronization matrix across all Main Events, ensuring that all Training Objectives were adequately covered and cross-referenced.
Additionally, the workshop defined the exercise storyboards, synchronized the Opposing Forces Campaign Plan with the Tactical Design, and confirmed the scenario documentation and starting conditions.
