Exercise “LOYAL DOLOS 2025”

From Monday 1 to Thursday 11 December 2025, NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Greece (NRDC-GR) conducted the execution phase of Exercise “LOYAL DOLOS 2025” (LODO 25), a NATO Allied Land Command (LANDCOM)-scheduled land domain Computer Assisted Exercise/Command Post Exercise (CAX/CPX) designed to train and evaluate NRDC-GR as a Tier 3 Warfighting Corps Headquarters. The exercise took place at Prokopidi Camp in Assiros village, gathering a multinational staff and ensuring full integration of NATO standards, doctrine, and procedures, conducted in parallel with the Live Exercise “GOLDEN SWORD 2025”.

Throughout LODO 25, NRDC-GR was challenged with a demanding, multi-layered scenario replicating high-intensity combat against a peer adversary contesting NATO. The scenario included offensive operations to restore NATO territorial integrity, hybrid threats, multi-domain challenges, complex geography, joint fires, non-lethal and lethal effects, information operations, and cyber activities.

On Thursday 11 December 2025, the Distinguished Visitors’ Day (DV-Day) took place, presenting NRDC-GR’s capabilities as a fully deployable, highly ready Warfighting Corps. The event showcased the Headquarters’ capacity to integrate effects across a Multidomain Environment, conduct complex land operations, and uphold NATO’s deterrence and defense posture.

In the same day, the DV-Day of LIVEX “GOLDEN SWORD (GOSW) 2025” took place, a national exercise linked to LODO25. GOSW25 was a Tactical level, Field Training Exercise (FTX), scheduled by II Mech Division, which is allocated to NRDC-GR, with the participation of NATO countries, aiming to train allied personnel in planning and conducting offensive operations, against a peer adversary. 

Distinguished guests included General Dimitrios Choupis, Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff; Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff; Lieutenant General Stavros Papastathopoulos, Commanding General of the Hellenic First Army / EU-OHQ “ACHILLEAS”; Lieutenant General Jeremy Bennett, Deputy Commander of Allied Land Command; Lieutenant General Cristian-Daniel Dan, Commander of Multinational Corps South-East; Lieutenant General Dimitrios Vakentis, Commander of the Supreme Military Command of the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean; Lieutenant General Panagiotis Kavidopoulos, Commander of Supreme Thrace Military Command; Lieutenant General Georgios Manouras, Commander of Special Warfare Command;  Lieutenant General (Ret.) Cătălin Tomescu, Senior Mentor; Major General Ilir Xhebexhia, Commander of the Albanian Land Forces and Major General Daniel POP, Deputy Commander of the Romanian Land Forses. Also in attendance were representatives of the Chiefs of Staff of the Spanish and Italian Armies, as well as senior personnel from LANDCOM, JFTC, JFC Naples, and NFS Corps Headquarters. Their presence underscored the collective commitment to enhancing interoperability, readiness, and operational cohesion across the Alliance.

NRDC-GR Commander, Lieutenant General Athanasios GARINIS, welcomed the distinguished guests, highlighting the significance of LODO 25 for validating the Corps’ warfighting readiness. NRDC-GR COS, Major General Vasileios TSAMIS, provided an overview of the exercise’s scope, objectives, and key training outcomes.

Successful completion of Exercise LOYAL DOLOS 2025 reaffirms NRDC-GR as a credible, high-readiness NATO Warfighting Corps Headquarters, contributing directly to Allied security and collective defense.
