On Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th of February 2023, NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Greece (NRDC-GR), conducted the “ARGONAUT 23” Maritime Seminar. This 2-day seminar, is addressed to the operational needs of a Land-Centric HQ, focused to maritime contribution in Land Operations, under the Multi Domain Operations (MDO) approach in general.
The seminar aimed to initially communicate potential capabilities derived from the respective domain, in favor of a land operation, such as Amphibious, Naval Air, Missile strikes, Integrated Air Missile Defence and Maritime Medical Evacuation.
The denomination of the Seminar is motivated by the consideration of the “Argonaut Expedition”, noted as the first Amphibious Operation, in ages between history and myth. Though conducted thousands of years ago in SE Mediterranean region and particularly in Adriatic, Aegean and Black Sea, it is obvious that nowadays coincides with a very sensitive NATO Area of Interest.
