Background

M.Gen. Theodoros ATHANASOPOULOS was born in Athens, in 1967. He was admitted to the Hellenic Army Academy in 1985, and in 1989 he received his commission as Second Lieutenant in the Artillery Branch.

He was promoted as follows:

He has attended successfully all national basic and advanced mandatory training for Artillery Officers.

He also graduated from Greek Staff Officer’s School, the Supreme Joint War College and the National Defence College. He holds a Master in Applied Strategy and International Security of the Plymouth University (2014-2016).

He has been awarded with all decorations, commendations and medals provided for his rank, commanding and staff assignments.

He speaks English fluently, as well as Italian in intermediate level.

He is married with two sons (28,17) and one daughter (26).

On 30 March 2022, M.Gen. Theodoros ATHANASOPOULOS has been appointed as Chief of Staff in NATO RAPID DEPLOYABLE CORPS GREECE.
