Born in 1969 and brought up in Athens, Greece; he graduated from the Hellenic Military Academy in 1992 and was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the Artillery.

After having completed the artillery training and courses BGEN MARINOPOULOS was assigned to various commanding and staff posts in different Units and HQs around Greece and abroad. He served as commander of artillery Battalion as well as artillery Regiment.

His staff assignments include DCOS in Division HQ and ACOS G7 at Corps HQ. Moreover as Colonel he served as Deputy Commander in Hellenic Artillery School.

His NATO experience started in G2 / ELDYKO (KOSOVO) and continued with his assignment in NMI (NATO Mission Iraq) as Senior Adviser.
In January 2023 he was promoted to Brigadier General and was assigned the duties of the DCOS RSPT of the NRDC-GR HQ.

His military education includes Artillery basic and advanced courses, the Staff Officers Course, the Supreme Joint War College and the National Defense Course.

He speaks English fluently and he is married to Eleni Kampouri. They have two sons, Giorgos (14) and Marios (3)
